Kaorazim (Chorazin)
This ancient Jewish town is on a hillside 900 ft above the Sea of Galilee. Its ssurving ruins date from the third to fifth century AD. It is a great place to see and understand how New Testament homes were built using basalt, which was volcanic rock. This stone was very hard but tended to fracture if the span was more than a few feet. As a result, those building with it built rooms that were smaller and narrower. They had a large courtyard in the center of the living compound that was surrounded by a lot of smaller rooms. Jesus spent a lot of time in this town. Chorazin, Bethsaida and Capernaum seems to be the area in which Jesus conducted the bulk of his Galilean ministry
